...ten hours filled with UT all the way!
BLooDY SuNDAY is over.
We've had 15 matches (18 maps) of UT CTF, out of which 1 was forfeited; we've had quite chaotic circumstances especially during the early evening, no UTV for the de vs u game, heavy delays in general (won't mention any names - but someone do them underdoggy-style please :<), one clan and two shoutcasters dropping out... to sum it up, it was a MESS! :<
Ok, that's what you *could* say about our cup without being wrong at all. We still hope that a majority of you guys enjoyed the matches. We know there were some mistakes in the general organisation and not everyone was satisfied, half the clans couldn't even play more than one map but we think most of our basic decisions were right, even more games would have been overwhelming for us.
After all that moaning and whining, let's celebrate the official BLooDY SuNDAY champions - the big favourites for all cups to come, offensive Gaming! Impressive stuff guys, after all noone really stood a chance against you.
Well deserved triumph, gg.
The 2nd bunch of UTers on the podium are daze who will prolly have surprised a lot of people. Great job done by you guys too, you've shown great teamplay and truely deserved to fight for gold.
The 3rd spot is shared by silent Death and Insane Strike Force, who will prolly both be a bit disappointed to lose their semis after showing great performance in their quarter final matches.
Apart from those well-known clans, we've also seen some surprises, like tötet die Woodies beating final project in the first round and underdogs defeating a handicapped Death's Embrace.
Now you know who to watch out for in the upcoming Eurocup. ;)
The thing we were most amazed by was however the really GREAT help and support by the community. There were so many people offering help and actually jumping in instantly when needed. A short list:
Big thanks to Avlan, exo, MAG and Spyro
for shoutcasting and partly UTVing as well, it was a hell of work for you to do and also quite a lot of stress. :D
Big thanks go out as well to dan, GP and Warchild for adminning some matches in the earlier stages, we couldn't have done this without you. :)
I think that at least the final 3 matches were well covered and met our high targets, in the end we almost reached the 300 IRC-viewers-border which is far more than we would have expected.
Feel free to check back for further info on all the games played tonight by clicking on the respective link to your right - there should be screenshots and small matchreports at least.
That's it, we'd like to thank all of you for your great interest and hope we could create a nice tourney atmosphere - cya all soon! :)
The Celebrate UT-Group

P.S.: As a special service we're offering demos from the final by z0, lzR and devereux which can be downloaded here (uploaded during the next hours)!
Have fun! |

[st`daRth] Hi Mr. lzR, how are you?
[oG|lz] im very fine! thanks and you ? :)
[st`daRth] bad, i have a bad cold
[st`daRth] Ok, lets talk about the upcomming mega-event - the Bloody Sunday. What do you think about this event?
[oG|lz] Its really nice organized and at all its a nice idea imo
[st`daRth] In the first round your team has to face VNV. It seems no one really knows how strong your oppenemnt is. Any prediction about the outgoing of this match?
[oG|lz] In fact many ppl think "oh, oG got one of the best team in that cup and it will be np" but i think you cant underrate a enemy like VNV, if you ever played them you know what i mean. They got nice Snipers and really nice Tactics, i think we will win but not that high as some people think
[st`daRth] Do you think the Bloody Sunday can become very popular? If "Yes", why? If "No" why? :P
[oG|lz] Yes for sure it can, like i allready said i think its a good idea and its really nice organized, in fact its a good idea to play all matches in one day cause there are enough nice cups who have those groupstages etc its a nice alternation.
[st`daRth]Will you watch any matches when you are not playing? If "yes", which one you like the most?
[oG|lz] for sure i will watch f vs P and if possible some ffr / daze matches
[oG|lz] the most fun to watch is the daze or ffr match i think.
[oG|lz] simply cause its nice to watch fake owning in attack or the pt guys rapeing everything with their nice high ping performence.
[st`daRth] Ok, name me your dreamteam of the participating clans (2 - 1 - 2).
[oG|lz] azyd & fraggass def - z0 mid - fake & LordSidious / (lzr)
[st`daRth] What do you thing about the mappool? Is it too small or are there too many gaymaps in it?
[oG|lz] its not too small, but i think some really nice oldschool(or newer) maps are missing
[st`daRth] Ok, thank you for your time.
[oG|lz] no problem, can i greet some lamers ?
[st`daRth] sure
[oG|lz] I wanna greet the whole st team, the oG lamers, MAG *hug*!, and atleast all VNV members.
[oG|lz] thanks! |

January 30th 2005, BLooDY SuNDAY
First Matches -1:30h
Ok guys, we're getting closer. The first matches are about to start soon, and we've got some more info for you.
Especially during the first rounds, where we will have up to four matches at the same time, it might be a bit difficult to find the games you want to follow.
For this purpose Way has offered us his extraordinarily leet UTV-IRC bot called galactus, which can be found in
#bloodysunday.
By typing !matches it will give you all info needed about the upcoming matches, including time, IRC channel, admin and UTV IP. You will of course find all this in the IRC channels or at the page (match details) as well.
The first shoutcast out there will be done by Avlan, he decided to cover the match between sD and {e} at 14:00.
Apart from that, we're glad to announce that Spyro has asked us if we wanted some more shoutcasting during the first rounds... he got his own server and will be there for some extra shoutcasts of earlier matches.
Nice one Spyro!
Ok, that's it for the moment, check back later and don't forget to enter #bloodysunday :) |

And here you got some predictions, brilliantly written by the well-known UT starreporter MARIN!
sD vs {e}
In this match, we have a conflict between 2 old clans, who have been inactive but have returned for this years OC. Altho {e} has reinforced themselves with likes of viper & mazin, i doubt they can go thro against the likes of frag, kauz and other german0rs. This should be a tight ( or clear if banjo plays :E ) win for sD, but this will be only win for sD as there's very little chance for them passing 2nd round ( facing *P* ).
f vs *P*
Well this is an easy one. Unless Mr.Hacker releases Elfbots_elite_v2.34 on Sunday morning, f will be packing home. *P* has kinda easy job, starting with elimination of f, then beating sD in 2nd round, which will probably lead them to semifinals against Daze, where they should also win, and so reaching finals.
z^ vs Ni
Daze has lost a clanwho ( d1sc joined ffr ), but gained another lam0 ( my dear friend fake, ex. RATS ). Daze proved themselves last EC, while Ni failed to do so, leading us to the conclusion that Ni has nothing to look for in this war except fun, as Daze wins this one. Daze will be successfull in next round aswell where they will beat fp, but theyre out in semifinals.
tdW vs fp
And again a german clan playing against a returning clan. Final Project is back again, with likes as mYthos and belemil, and my favourite monk, abeo. tdW is a consistant OC member, so they can't expect much against a team with multiple EC players. fp is to win this in a tight war, but altho i will be cheering for abeo when they face Daze, theres no chance they can beat them.
oG vs VnV
Well, this match needs no comment. A clear win for VnV....er..nah, oG wins this, VnV should probably be lucky to actually cap some:). oG will most likely reach finals while beating de| and later on I in semis.
u vs de|
This one is tricky. The owners of 2 gold EC's against "hey I installed UT 2 days ago and now i fuckin own ya'll" :E. Altho de| lost some of their main players, others have returned, and they also recruited iG|pat. Considering all that + "impressive high" u skill, i think de should get a tight win here (altho u winning shouldnt be a surprise if it happens). Whoever wins here plays their last game vs oG in Round 2, as they're loosin against oG.
ffr* vs 7
Here we have the last year's OC winner 7, and comebackers (clanwhores:x) ffr*.
There's no doubt in the good quality and teamwork of 7gzz and all other scandis, but if ffr* managed to pracc enuff, they won't win this. Sadly for both clans, whoever wins, looses the Group 2 match as ISF goes to semis.
ISF vs |J&F|
Ah, the timing gods against flaming dutchies, What a jolly nice war :x. Probably the main factor in this war is the fact that the game is played on german servers, and besides the better skill of germans, ISF also ping ~30ms. Clear win for them, they might have some troubles vs ffr*, but semifinals r theirs to face oG, and ofcourse.. lose that war.
Thanks a lot for your work MARIN, great job. :)
Have fun commenting everyone! |

Hello everyone and welcome to BLOODY SUNDAY!
So here we are, only a few days to go until the first international 1-day-cup in UT CTF's history will be taking place.
This is the official webpage, finally publishing the cup's grid and its rules, showing you your first opponents.
You might be interested in how the grid was created:
First of all, we divided all clans into 2 main poules, separating the better 8 from the weaker 8 clans. Then we went on with drawing lots, putting together 1 clan from poule A and 1 from poule B. We didn't want to interfere into the matches more than that: The order of the matches is based on the order we were drawing the clans, so "lady luck" might have prepared easier paths for some clans while others have to beat subjectively stronger opponents.
The whole procedure was spread over 3 different countries: Switzerland, Germany and Austria; so there shouldn't really be any kind of bias involved. :P
There's one more thing, c4 have unfortunately dropped from the cup due to member problems and got replaced by the ambitious newcomers from VnV.
Good luck to both clans!
Concerning the matches, there won't be any internal IRC channel. You will be given the IP you will play on by a supervisor in time. By clicking on a match on the right side you can get all the info like public IRC channel or UTVer (especially for the watchers, of course).
We haven't fixed all matchadmins and UTV/SC - IPs yet, they will be added during the next days.
Theoretically ALL matches should be covered by UTV / matchadmin at least, full coverage (including shoutcast) will start with the semifinals at 18:00 CET.
In case you however shouldn't have a matchadmin for whatever reason, you will have to tell a supervisor the results and have them added on the page in order to proceed.
Apart from that, the rules-section should be complete by now. It's not very long, please take a short look at it and especially read the list of things you should NOT do carefully. :P
So there you got your first matches, feel free to comment or discuss or simply express your opinion in the feedbacks!
We hope we won't have too many unforeseen problems on Sunday so that everyone will have most fun possible. We wish all participating clans good luck and ourselves many exciting matches to watch!
Have fun people! |
